What is a Circle Based Officer (CBO)?

A Circle Based Officer (CBO) is a mid-level position in State Bank of India (SBI). The role was created to meet the growing banking needs at the regional (circle) level. The officer is posted in a specific “circle” (a geographical area covering a state or part of a state) and is not usually transferred outside this circle for many years — making it a stable job in terms of location.

What Does a CBO Do? (Job Role & Responsibilities)

1. Branch Management

• Manage day-to-day operations of a bank branch.
• Supervise staff and ensure good customer service.
• Maintain branch profitability and compliance with regulations.

2. Customer Service

• Handle customer queries and complaints.
• Provide guidance on bank products such as loans, deposits, insurance, etc.

3. Credit & Loan Processing

• Assess and approve loans for individuals and businesses.
• Monitor repayment and ensure credit risk is managed.

4. Business Development

• Promote bank products and services.
• Build relationships with local customers, businesses, and community leaders.

5. Compliance & Audit

• Ensure all banking activities follow internal policies and government regulations.
• Prepare for internal and external audits.

6. Training & Leadership

• Lead and mentor junior staff.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university.

2️⃣ Work Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank (RRB), as on 30 April 2025.

3️⃣ Age Limit:

• 21 to 30 years (as on 30 April 2025).
